Report your Call to the Governor

Menhaden are small fish that play a critical role in protecting the health of the Gulf of Mexico. From filtering pollutants out of the water to serving as food source to dolphins, pelicans and other sea life, menhaden have rightly been called "the most important fish in the sea."

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has proposed new protections for menhaden from the threat of factory fishing, but Houston-based Omega Protein (the largest menhaden company) is fighting to stop the new standards.

Please call Governor Perry and tell him you support stronger protections for the Gulf of Mexico! Call his office at 1-800-252-9600.

Here's a sample message you can leave:

"Hello, my name is ____ and I live in _____, Texas. I support the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission proposal to cap the amount of menhaden (note - pronounced MEN-HAY-DEN) that can be taken from Texas waters."
